DOES YOUR AUDIENCE UNDERSTAND?

How we communicate - face-to-face, in colour, in writing, one-to-one, in three seconds or minutes, or whatever other way we decide - can have a dynamic impact on others. But understanding is the prerequisite. How often have you heard someone exclaim in frustration, ‘I just don’t get it’?

Communication must be defined by all those who are party to it:

● If the intent and content of a message are not understood, that message is not fully received - and communication is lacking or incomplete

● It is not what you (the messenger) understands that matters; the receiver is the person who confers meaning and understanding on any message received

● The medium or media used by the communicator can aid or hinder understanding
